I decided to try these beans because I’d never tried robusta outside of cheap grocery store coffee. This is listed a dark roast but it’s definitely a “craft coffee dark roast” - the beans aren’t oily or roasted to oblivion.Flavor-wise it’s quite different than an arabica. The most noticeable thing is that the acidity is almost non-existent. Flavor wise there’s subtle chocolate, vegetal, nutty, woody flavors. Nothing really in your face. No off or unappealing flavors. I really enjoyed it as espresso especially in milk drinks. My prior association with robusta was sort of an aggressive “old burnt tire and cheap cigar ashes” flavor so I was surprised at how mild the flavor palate of this coffee is.
